Purpose: To describe case reports of the patients who underwent vitreous surgery combined with toric intraocular lenses (IOLs).
Methods: Case reports. Vitreous surgery combined with cataract surgery implanted with a toric intraocular lens (SN6AT5 or SN6AT4, Alcon Laboratries) was performed in 2 cases for diabetic macular edema (case 1) and epiretinal membrane (case 2).
Results: A toric IOL was implanted after vitreous procedures in case 1 but an IOL was implanted before vitreous procedures in case 2. The cylinder value of corneal topography was -3.00DAxis86 (case 1) and -1.25DAxis84 (case 2). The postoperative vision recovered from 20/25 to 20/18 in case 2 one month after the surgery and case 1 maintained vision of 20/100 with persistent macular edema. The vision without correction in case 2 remarkably improved from 20/200 to 20/18. The postoperative astigma was reduced in both cases with limited change of the astigmatic axis. The value of refractometer was cyl-0.75Daxis90 (case 1) and cyl-1.0DAxis77 (case 2).
Conclusions: Vitreous surgery combined with cataract surgery implanted with toric intraocular lenses was effective in selected cases.
