Free Eye Camps, Experience of Albasar International Foundation In Sudan

Purpose:
To study the experience of Albasar International Foundation (NGO) in conducting free eye camps for cataract surgery and the outcomes in some developing countries.

Methods:
Retrospective study from 1994 to 2010

Results:
The outcomes of free eye camps in Sudan are acceptable in remote areas where are no eye health facilities.

Conclusions:
Compact traditional couching.
Introducing phacoemulsification cataract surgery in free eye camps in Sudan
Free eye camps are not alternative to complete eye services.
